Global professional services firm EY will sponsor the Man of the Match (the Bob Mahuta Trophy) at this year’s Pcubed Rugby League Varsity Match, which takes place on Friday 6 March and the Royal Honourable Artillery Company.
Pcubed Rugby League Varsity Match Director Mark Ramsdale thanked EY on behalf of the clubs, saying “The 2015 Pcubed Rugby League Varsity Match is the thirty-fifth time the light and dark blues will lock horns. You just have to look at the hundreds of old boys who have played Oxbridge rugby league and where their careers have taken them to see they, like other senior Varsity sports, nurture talent in any field.”
“EY have a long history with Oxbridge recruitment and rugby league – for example EY Partner Tim Carty an Irish international and Varsity winner, and Tom Cole, a 2013 Varsity winner – and we’re very pleased they see the value of supporting those who play rugby league at the universities now, and the potential those players have for the future.”
Tom Cole of Ernst & Young said “as a global professional services firm, we recruit thousands of graduates each year and competition for places is incredibly high. Oxbridge provides a good number of our graduates, but we look for something beyond pure academic ability. Playing Varsity sport – and particularly rugby league which is physically and mentally demanding and requires enormous dedication – gives candidates an edge.”
“We’re very much looking forward to seeing the talent on the field, and speaking to players and spectators about opportunities we can offer.”
