Multinational project management consultancy Pcubed will remain as headline sponsor of the Rugby League Varsity Match in a deal which takes the firm’s relationship with the event to a 17th consecutive year. Investigations are now underway to discover where Pcubed lie as one of the sport’s longest-running sponsors.
The 35th Rugby League Varsity Match, played between the Dark Blues of Oxford and Light Blues of Cambridge, will return to the Honourable Artillery Company in central London for a third year on Friday 6 March 2015.
The announcement, made less than a month after the 2014 Battle of the Blues, was made by Varsity Match director Mark Ramsdale who said: “We’re absolutely delighted Pcubed is again supporting the Rugby League Varsity Match. To have such a supportive partner involved for such a long time is fantastic, and with their increasing support, they have enabled the event go from strength-to-strength and bring rugby league to a new enthusiastic City base.
“We’re now investigating options to deliver additional Pcubed Rugby League Varsity Match events over the year to develop the competition and demonstrate the appeal of rugby league to a wider audience.”
Having just turned 20, Pcubed’s involvement with the Varsity Match is almost as old as the firm itself, with its involvement with the Varsity Match dating back to 1999. The organisation supports over half the Fortune 100 and has made its reputation for supporting and delivering large complex projects including several Olympics and other global sporting events. Supporting sport, and particularly rugby, is one of the key themes for their business.
Carl Dalby, Pcubed’s global business development head, summarised the organisation’s involvement: “Pcubed is all about delivering success on behalf of our clients and supporting and developing high performance teams. For us, rugby league epitomises teamwork, passion, dedication and discipline. We develop long term trusted relationships with our clients and we have kept this constancy with our support of the Varsity match.
