Longstanding headline sponsor of the Rugby League Varsity Match, Pcubed, is relishing this Friday’s 35th meeting of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge at the Honourable Artillery Company in the City of London.
The multinational project management firm has sponsored the Rugby League Varsity Match since 1999 and holds the teamwork demonstrated by the two clubs in high esteem.
Pcubed General Manager Richard Siddle spoke about their involvement in the annual Battle of the Blues: “As well as being one of the major sporting events in the Oxbridge calendar, the Rugby League Varsity Match showcases the huge commitment the clubs put into a single 80 minutes.
“Rugby league is one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports, and for many of these players the Varsity Match represents the pinnacle of their playing career. Right from our inception, Pcubed has placed a high value on teamwork and dedication, and it is for that reason we have continued to support the Rugby League Varsity Match for such a long time.”
The game regularly draws some of the biggest crowds for Oxbridge sport with between 700-800 spectators due to watch Friday’s game. The pre-match lunch with Martin Offiah MBE is nudging 250 guests drawn from Pcubed’s guests, the clubs’ Old Boys, City professionals, and firms and individuals looking to entertain clients.
The Varsity Match Director, Mark Ramsdale, said “Pcubed are a terrific partner to have involved in an event like this. Their continued relationship means we can develop the event to encourage more people to play rugby league at Oxford and Cambridge and showcase the sport to a City audience.
